Hi Diane.
I have just seen your messages re Harndens. John Harnden was my 5th Gt Grandfather on my mothers side. The seafaring and associated trades runs quite strong throughout the family, i have discovered branches in Salcombe,Devon (3rd Gt Uncles) that were ship owners and Master Mariners. My details are on Ancestry.com and are on public view I believe though that you can only access them if you're a member, if you're not then I would be more than happy to send you details via email. My email is [email protected]

Hi Ian.
I have just registered my details having seen your messages after googling John Harnden. He was my 5th Gt Grandfather on my mothers side of the family. The seafaring link is as you say quite strong in the family i have discovered two of his grandsons Edwin (1813-1896)and John (1806-1880) were both Master Mariners living in the Salcombe, Devon area. The latter died at sea in 1880 on board his own ship. Their descendants were also involved with sailing or associated trades. My Gt Grandfather Alfred Edwin (1870-1925) was a ships joiner and lived in Rye and Portsmouth before finally settling in Sheerness. All of my family details are on Ancestry.com and are on public view, although I believe you have to be a member to view. I would be more than happy to supply you details if you cant view them there. My email is [email protected]
