Relax, Eat, & Enjoy by the river at the River Cafe.
Unique to Rye, the River café offers a fully licensed 165 foot decked area on the edge of the River Tillingham, in the Strand, central Rye.
The Café is a completely new concept for Rye, &, as with all things new, there was as much controversy as there was excitement. Finally, after almost two years of continued belief in a dream, we have arrived.
We have created a bohemian meeting place that will both inspire & relax, whilst offering high quality food at affordable prices in a unique & informal location.
The brilliant combination of John Harper, of the ‘Harpers’ Acoustic & Music Club in Hastings, & also the original ‘Little Johnny’ of Fanny Craddock television fame; Gloria & David Satterfield former owners of ‘Rumples of Peasmarsh’ & TV catering duo ‘Bourne to Cook’; & last, in fact no doubt least, Allison Riches, the creator of the River Café & film location promoter, together form the driving force behind the River Café.
Look out for our forthcoming events & themed evenings which will be weekly, such as our season of ‘Food Theatre’, starting with:
‘An Evening With Fanny’
followed by:
‘I Once Did It With The Galloping Gourmet’,
& finally, the equally hilarious
‘Who’d Eat In An Outfit Like That’
based on a true life depiction of one of Lloyd Grossman’s’ earlier relationships.
The opening times are as follows:
Thursday noon through till early evening Sunday (open all day)
Thursday nights – themed 3 course dinner & entertainment £9.99
Friday & Saturday nights- full A La Carte menu
Thursday & Friday Day – A la Carte, all day breakfast & light bites
Saturday &Sunday (9am onwards) are our Lazy Brunch days with the papers, endless coffee, all day Canadian, English & Scandinavian Breakfasts, with light bites Sat & on Sundays we rustle up our delicious endless roasts - £7.99 for as much as you can eat!
In fact, why not bring your laptop & take advantage of Free internet access?
