Starting on 10th September the Rye Arts Festival, which has been described as one of the best smaller festivals in the UK, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. In a packed fortnight between 10th and 25th September there will be a mix of classical and contempoorary music, exhibitions, literary talks, dance, comedy and guided walks and much more in and around Rye. There is something for everyone, including children. Highlights include not one but two classical music World Premieres (with compositions based on and influenced by Rye) and, for the first time ever, a fully staged opera. And don't forget, many of the events are entirely free!
